Index ETFs, or Exchange Traded Funds, are funds that track an index, but can be traded like a stock. They are ideal for investing over the long term, since they are automatically diversified and cost very little to purchase, especially through SogoTrade.

By purchasing the same dollar amounts of index ETFs over time, you are automatically tracking the performance of the index that the ETF tracks, and are therefore likely to obtain the same return as that index (the S&P 500 index has historically returned around 10%* a year). Your investment is compounded automatically, resulting in much greater potential gains over the long term.

*As based on annualized total return of the S&P 500 from 1926 through 2004.
